Research interests
1) Microbiomes in coal mines for converting coal to methane
2) Microbial fuel cells and solar cells for CO2 reduction andelectricity production
3) Strain selection and enzymatic mechanisms for increased lipid content inmicroalgae the goal of utilizing microalgae for biofuel production.
4) Understanding the fate, transport and toxicity of emerging contaminantsin the environment
5) Biochemical conversion of lignocellulosic feedstocks to biofuels:pretreatment, hydrolysis and fermentation
6) Isolation, identification, and characterization of thermophiliclignocellulose degrading bacteria for bioethanol/biodiesel production fromplant-based materials.
7) Proper utilization of industrial and agricultural wastes or by-productsfor producing value-added products through biological processes.
8) Water reuse and wastewater treatment
9) Bioremediation and biodegradation of organic contaminants in subsurfaceand groundwater
