应理学院数学系邀请，加拿大纽芬兰纪念大学（Memorial University of Newfoundland，Canada）赵晓强教授将于近日访问我校数学系，期间将作一场学术报告，欢迎感兴趣的学生和老师参加。

报告题目：Spatial Invasion Threshold of Lyme Disease

报告摘要：A mathematical model of Lyme disease is formulated to incorporatethe spatially heterogenous structures. The basic reproduction number R0 of the disease and its computation formulae are established.It is shown that R0 serves a threshold value betweenthe extinction and the persistence of Lyme disease evolution.Numerical simulations indicate that the spatial heterogeneity ofdisease transmission coefficient increases the basic reproductionnumber, but the spatial heterogeneity of carrying capacity of micealleviates the value of R0.  Moreover, influences of host population sizes, destruction of tick habitats and deployment of vaccinations  are studied to give insights into optimal control of the disease.

报 告 人：赵晓强分别于1983年和1986年在西北大学数学系获学士和硕士学位;此后师从我国常微分方程定性和稳定性理论先驱秦元勋先生，并于1990年1月在中国科学院获理学博士学位。1990年至1998年在中科院应用数学研究所先后任助理研究员、副研究员和研究员。1997年至2005年先后任美国Arizona州立大学访问教授、加拿大纽芬兰纪念大学助理教授、副教授；从2005年9月开始任加拿大纽芬兰纪念大学教授，并为该校的URP教授。赵晓强教授是国际动力系统及应用研究领域中最活跃的学者之一。他关于单调动力系统、无穷维动力系统渐近性理论及其应用方面的很多工作已经成为了这一领域研究的经典文献。迄今为止，赵晓强教授在Communications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, J. European Math. Soc., J. ReineAngew. Math., SIAM J. Math. Anal., SIAM J. Appl. Math.,J. Functional Analysis, J. Differential Equations, Nonlinearity, J. Dynamics and Differential Equations, J. Math. Biology,Bulletin of Math. Biology等国际著名期刊上发表学术论文130多篇，其专著“Dynamical Systems in Population Biology”于2003年在Springer-Verlag出版社出版。此外，赵教授目前担任加拿大数学会主办旗舰杂志之一“Canadian Mathematical Bulletin”的主编和另外三个国际数学期刊的编委。
